In an effort to promote manufactured housing as a great affordable housing option, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) recently partnered with the Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI) to host the Innovative Housing Showcase on the National Mall in Washington, DC.

HUD Secretary Marcia Fudge officially kicked off the Innovative Housing Showcase, noting that manufactured homes could be “the future of housing.” She also said the event marked the beginning of solving the country’s affordable housing challenge and recommitted her agency to utilizing innovative housing solutions to address the problem.

Thousands of visitors toured three manufactured homes that were showcased from June 7 through 12, with many impressed by the quality, design, and attainable price point of the homes. Visitors were pleasantly surprised by the high-end features, finishes, and amenities such as wood-look flooring, stone countertops, farmhouse sinks windows with the decorative casing, ample closet space, porches, on-trend bat, board siding, and more.

Skyline Champion was just one of the manufacturers that had a home on display, and just one of the many respected manufacturers that HomeQuest works with to help homebuyers select and purchase their dream home.

“Manufactured homes have come a long way in construction quality and design, and are no longer the same as your grandparent’s mobile homes,” said HomeQuest General Manager and Partner Shane Joffe. “Today’s manufactured homes are built to HUD code, often to higher quality standards than site-built homes, and feature the latest design styles and amenities. Most importantly, the affordability of these homes makes them great investments for anyone from a first-time homebuyer, to someone looking for affordable housing for their family, to retirees.”
